When the weather starts to heat up in the summer, the last thing you want is the feeling of your hair against the back of your already-too-warm neck. One easy solution to beating a heat wave is by simply tossing your hair up in a bun or ponytail. However, if you want to really step up your summer style, nothing amps up your look more than a cute braided hairdo! A braided hairstyle can transform any look you’re going for, whether it’s for a casual or special occasion. We sought the expertise of one of our own Planet Beauty Hairstylists to show us one casual braid and one dressier braid you can flaunt this summer season!
What you’ll need:
Small hair ties
For a casual day out by the beach, our stylist Jen Quiroz suggests a full-bodied inside-out side braid. To perfectly grip the hair for braiding, she loves using ColorProof’s Texture Charge. An ideal product for second-day hair, this spray absorbs excess oil in the hair, while drawing fibers away from each other to create texture, volume and definition. To smooth down flyaways and condition the hair, Jen’s go-to product is ColorProof’s PlushLocks Leave In Smooth.
If you need a last minute summer up-do for a special occassion, Jen suggests a textured inside-out mohawk braid. This particular style instantly adds a little edge with minimal effort, yet still looks dressy for that summer wedding you have penciled into your calendar. The secret to this beautiful up-do is embracing imperfection and allow your hair to do it's natural thing. The combination of the braid and bun give this style so much to look at and admire. On a hot summer day, this is a great hairdo to keep you cool and stylish. She also used both ColorProof products to create this beautiful hairdo.
