The Classic Beauty Look That Will Never Go Out of Style

Some beauty trends come and go with the changing seasons, while others become permanent fixtures in our everyday beauty catalogs. These timeless trends always come in handy when you want to look your absolute best but don’t feel like getting adventurous. As we head into the holiday season, your calendar is going to quickly fill up with holiday parties and possibly, work events. Before you pull out that red lipstick that’s been sitting in your bag since last December, consider one of our favorite classic looks for the holiday season: Sleek hair, smoky eyes and nude lips. This look will not only make you look polished, but it will spare you the discomfort of wearing that dreaded red lipstick you don’t even love.

When it comes to dressing up your eyes, the smoky eye is a lifesaver. It’s one of the most popular looks on the Red Carpet and easily takes anyone from drab to glam. There are so many ways to create a smoky eye, but the one that translates well across the board is the black, matte smoky eye. If you haven’t added it to your makeup collection yet, then you need to get your hands on the Smashbox Photo Matte Eyeshadow Palette. This amazing palette comes with twelve matte wet/dry eye shadows and two matte base eye shadow colors. The matte wet/dry colors can easily be used as liners for maximum intensity. With a good variety of eye shadow shades, you’ll never get bored of this palette. A good tip for keeping your smoky eye looking intense all night? Use an eye liner pencil along the lash line and smudge it quickly to deepen the color of your eyelid and help your shadow stay in place.

A smoky eye isn’t complete without a good lip color. You can go the bold route and pair your smoky eye with a red or dark lip, but then you run into the possibility of looking a little vampy (not necessarily a bad thing, but for a holiday party or work social, maybe not so much). When picking a lip color to wear with a smoky eye, you can never go wrong with a simple, nude lip. Opting for a nude lip not only keeps all eyes on your eyes, but balances out the darkness of the dark eye shadow. Now, when it comes to nude lip colors, one shade does not fit all. This year, bareMinerals launched their Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick collection to help make the search for a nude lipstick a little easier. From rosy to brown shades of nude, you’ll be able to find the shade that’s perfect for you.

Good makeup should always be accompanied by good hair. You can search endlessly on Pinterest for new holiday hair up do’s and styles until you’re blue in the face or you can rely on the power of a sleek hair style. Another style that is often seen on the Red Carpet, there’s a reason why this choice makes such a statement. We love it because it keeps all the attention on your face and it looks perfectly polished and professional. The secret to a sleek style that doesn’t look greasy is using the right hair serum or oil. Ava Haircare’s Protective Hair Oil Treatment is our go-to for weightless shine and flyaway control. Argan Oil and Grapeseed Oil address dryness, damage and frizz, leaving your hair sensationally silky.

Wow, she's gorgeous! I love this look, too. It's classy and looks good on everyone. Is she wearing anything on her eyebrows?

Since her eyebrows were naturally full, our artist Vanessa just lightly filled in with the Smashbox Brow Tech Matte Pencil in Dark Brown.

Love this look. Is that oil mainly for people with thick hair? I love how shiny her hair is, but she looks like she has thicker hair. Mine's a little more fine. :(

Hi Olivia! Ava Oil works on all hair types! My suggestion is to start with less then a pump of oil and go from there. It's easier to add product, especially if your hair is fine. They also make a great volume shampoo and conditioner you might love!

Love everything about this! Any suggestions on keeping frizz down when it's humid out?

Hi JC! You can always apply a tiny bit of Ava Oil to dry hair to seal the cuticle and make your hair more smooth. If you're prone to frizz easily and need a little extra help, then I recommend using ColorProof's HumidityRx Anti-Frizz Weatherproof Spray.
