OPI’s 2016 Summer Collection has arrived and we are officially ready to have some fun in the sun RETRO style! Say goodbye to this dreary June gloom because we’re feeling major 60s beach party vibes with this eye-catching summer series of nail polish. OPI’s Retro Collection is everything you want from a summer nail polish set. They’re bright, bubbly and just put you in a good mood. Retro styles were all the rave during Fashion Week Spring 2016, in particular, fashion designer Jeremy Scott’s runway show. From volumized ponytails, to heavy winged liner and bright lips, his show this spring was a blast from the past. We’re totally feeling the same foxy vibe this season with OPI! We decided to have a little fun in our Planet Beauty studio and looked to the summer collection for some inspiration. Makeup and nail polish go hand in hand and so we went all out 60’s beach party style!
Get in touch with your inner mod girl by throwing caution into the wind and going to town with your winged eyeliner. To recreate Jen’s gorgeous liner look, you’ll want NYX’s White Liquid Eyeliner. This smooth, fine-tipped liner pen will give you the exact precision you’ll want to create anything from a classic wing to a dramatic wing like hers. Her duo-colored liner not only brings the drama, but draws all attention to her eyes. Complete the look with Eylure’s Definition Lashes in #126 and Smashbox’s Lipstick in Nude Beach (a pale, coral shade). For volumized, retro hair like Jen’s, use a Hot Tools 1 & ½ curling iron and curl section by section and and shake out curls for loose definition. Take L’anza’s Beach Spray to add volume, texture and separation. Take a small section at the top and pin it down for that 60’s Bridgette Bardot vibe.
If you want a subtle mod beach look, steal Vanessa’s girl-next-door look. You can recreate her foxy makeup by simply wearing a simple, matte white shadow like jane iredale’s PurePressed Eyeshadow in white. Then, go for a subtle winged liner and finish the look with a pair of Ardell’s Demi Wispies and Smashbox’s Lipstick in Pretty Social (a nude rose shade). To copy Vanessa’s shaggy, volumized hairstyle, go for a slightly deeper side part and use a Hot Tools 2 inch barrel curling iron to add some volume and definition. Achieve high rise volume by using Sexy Haircare's What a Tease spray and Spornette’s Little Wonder Teasing Brush.
