Say Goodbye to Breakout-Causing Habits

Dealing with constant breakouts is never fun and can really put a damper on your daily mood. If you have naturally oily skin, the battle with breakouts can seem never-ending. If you’re always feeling like your skin can’t catch a break, you may be unknowingly practicing some breakout-causing habits. Before you panic over your next breakout, see if you’re guilty of these daily habits.

Rushing your nightly routine: After a long day, it’s so tempting to just hit the hay without taking your makeup off. However, it’s just not a good idea for anyone. Relying on solely makeup wipes or only cleansing once is a surefire to welcome bacteria on your skin. Even if you don’t wear makeup, you should thoroughly cleanse and hydrate your face at night. Take your time cleansing your skin and if you have acne-prone skin, be gentle. Rubbing harshly can also cause irritation and spread bacteria.

Keeping dirty makeup brushes: You would never grab dirt off the ground and pat your face with it, so don’t let your makeup brushes go unwashed. Cleaning them regularly will help keep your skin free from unnecessary bacteria that can cause breakouts.

Master the No-Makeup Look With These Tips

Summer is right around the corner, which means it’s time to perfect the no-makeup look. This isn’t always easy to do, as it requires the right product, a super light hand and plenty of blending. If you can’t imagine walking out the door makeup-free, but still want to look more on the natural side, then check out some tips for achieving a beautiful, no-makeup look.

Prepping your skin: I believe in being dedicated when it comes to your daily skincare routine, but this is particularly important during the spring and summer months. Since the weather is warmer and you tend to perspire a little more, the last thing you want to do is neglect your skin and get lazy with removing your makeup at the end of the night. Since no-makeup looks work best with sheer makeup, you want to make sure exfoliate and hydrate your skin on a regular basis. The better your skin looks, the less you’ll feel the need to cover up.

Use a BB cream or cocktail your products: BB creams are great for getting that no-makeup look, but if you have a foundation already on hand, simply cocktail a tiny bit with your daytime moisturizer. Doing this will give you lighter coverage with a natural, dewy finish.

Lightly groom your brows:  If the majority of your time is spent grooming and shading in your brows, then you’ll love the no-makeup look. Simply brush your eyebrows upwards with an eyebrow gel and lightly shade or pencil in any sparse areas. Going light-handed with whatever brow product you choose is really important.

4 Nochella Beauty Party Ideas To Try This Weekend

If you’re feeling bummed about missing out on Coachella, then invite your friends over this weekend for a Nochella Pamper Party! Sure, watching live bands out in the desert is fun, but you can still stream some of the shows from the comfort of your couch while you party with your friends. This weekend, call your girls, drink some wine and indulge in some of our favorite pampering ideas!

Create a facial station: Set your table up with a few bowls, small towels, disposable spatulas or facial brushes and your favorite mask. Have a few handheld mirrors handy, too. Give your girls the treat of a multi-purpose mask like GLAMGLOW’S Youthmud. You’ll get all the benefits of a mask and the power of a little exfoliation, as well. If you’re looking for less mess and stress, you can also opt for sheet masks. Tony Moly has a wonderful variety of masks to choose from and they’re budget-friendly, too.

Put together a nail station: You’ll want a few small bowls, nail polish remover, Q-tips, cotton pads, cuticle oil, hand cream and of course, an assortment of nail polish to choose from. You can also make this a bring-your-own-polish party if your friends are particular about their shades. If you really want to shake things up, make it a nail art party and get a little artsy with your manicures. For some inspiration, visit Essie’s nail looks page.

Getting married? Check out our Bridal Beauty Checklist

It’s the start of wedding season and if you’ve recently gotten engaged, then you know how much work goes into planning. With endless appointments for venues, catering, music and of course—the dress, wedding planning can be a tad stressful. Having a beauty checklist for your big day can help ease some of the stress to make sure you look your best and have one less thing to worry about.

1. Keep your hair trimmed: Even if you plan on wearing an updo for your wedding day, you don’t want to risk having dry, split ends making your hair look frayed and unhealthy. Visit your salon every 6-8 weeks and get those ends trimmed. If you’re trying to grow your hair out, this will help the process along, too. Ask your stylist about hair treatments that will help your hair look its best.

2. Leave your brows to the professionals:  For the next year, months or weeks, put the tweezers down and leave your brows to a trusted professional. We have all committed eyebrow mistakes and the last thing you need in your life is a little “oops” days before your wedding.  Also, if you plan to try a new method of hair removal, do it weeks in advance in case it doesn’t agree with your delicate skin. No need for redness or breakouts on your big day.

3. Keep consistent nail appointments: This one’s mainly for your own relaxation, but it’s also good to have someone professional watching out for your nails, cuticles and unwanted calluses. You don’t want to run off to your honeymoon with rough feet, right?

Time-Saving Beauty Tips To Help You Survive Daylight Savings

Daylight Savings time is this Sunday and if you're already yawning thinking about that lost hour of sleep, you're not alone. No one really looks forward to Daylight Savings and it can almost seem like it takes a whole week to adjust. If you're already not a morning person, it can be particularly challenging. This week, hit the snooze button and save some time with your beauty routine. Check out our time-saving beauty tips to survive that dreaded Monday.

1. Skip the A.M face cleanse: If you normally wash your face in the sink every morning, ditch your regular face wash and get your face cleansed and toned with a micellar cleanser instead. All you need to do is take a soaked cotton pad and run it along your face. 5 seconds and you're good to go!

2. Cocktail your foundation and skincare: Professional makeup artists use this method when they're pressed for time and it will be your go-to technique when you're in a rush, too. Simply mix a drop of your foundation with your moisturizer, serum or primer and go to town. You can also apply this technique when your skin is in dire need of a quick glow. Mix your foundation with a drop of liquid luminizer for a radiant, youthful finish.

3. Detangle your hair in the shower: Don't wait until you're out of the shower to get any knots out of your hair. Just have a wide tooth comb handy in the shower and get any tangles out while you let your conditioner or mask do its thing. To avoid friction or tangles, use a microfiber towel to wrap your tangle-free hair. This will also help you cut down on blowdrying, as well.

Kick off 2016 With These Six Beauty Resolutions!

With 2016 right around the corner, it's natural to start thinking about those New Year's resolutions. If you're looking for some inspiration, I invite you to try these small and simple beauty resolutions that will give you a great start to the new year! Start them on the 1st or whenever you feel changing things up. You can make a resolution at any time throughout the year.

1. Shake up your beauty products: When it comes to our beauty routine, many of us are loyal to the brands and products we love. While you should always try to fix what isn't broken, you may be missing out on a product that could be working better for you. If the thought of buying a new product terrifies you, try asking for some samples first.

2. Upgrade your skincare regimen: Whenever I ask customers why they love the skincare they're using oftentimes, I'm told they love it because it doesn't bother their skin. Finding a non-irritating skincare line is great, but shouldn't you love it because it makes your skin look amazing? Don't settle for a skincare product that does the bare minimum. If you're going to invest in your skin, make sure it's actually giving you results you love.

Brighten Up Post-Summer Skin With Some of Our Favorites

If you spent a majority of your summer soaking in the sun, then you're probably in need of a little skincare rehab. Whether you're feeling a little parched or you're noticing darkened freckles or sun spots, it may be time to treat it to some hydrating and brightening skin care products to get it back in shape. Check out some of our favorite post-summer (and year-round) skincare products.

Any cleanser that offers some type of exfoliation will not only brighten up your skin, but will make it smoother as well. We love Murad's AHA/BHA cleanser because it contains a blend of Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic acids that almost instantly revive your skin from dullness. It doesn't cause irritation and improves cellular turnover for younger-looking skin. If you'd like a multitasking cleanser, pick up Rodial's Glamtox Cleanser. This customer favorite removes makeup, cleanses the skin and even acts as a brightening mask. Vitamin C, Jojoba, Almond and Wheat Germ Oils brighten and nourish dull, dry skin.

Five Lazy Girl Beauty Tips That Will Fool Anyone

Are you the kind of no-hassle gal who prefers  sleep over primping in the morning with a tedious beauty routine? Do you find yourself hitting the snooze button at least three times before forcing yourself out of bed? Do you find yourself day-dreaming while your friends talk about the latest contouring techniques? If this sounds like you, then you may need a lazy gal tips for looking fabulous in a short amount of time.

Tip #1 Dry shampoo your hair and opt for an effortless updo style: Washing your hair and blowing it out can take way too long in the morning, especially if your hair is shoulder-length or longer. Shave away minutes in the morning and use a dry shampoo to refresh your hair. You can always go the easy route and toss your hair up in a classic ponytail. However, if you have a few extra minutes to spare, try a braided updo that will turn heads at work.

Tip #2 Hide pesky chips in your manicure with chunky glitter specks: Instead of sitting there and carefully re-painting your nails, quickly cover any spots with chunky glitter specks and make it look intentional. Not only will they disguise those unsightly chips, but your entire manicure will look just a little more glam. Essie's Luxeffects add just the right amount of dazzle to your day.
