Getting eight hours of beauty sleep is essential to maintaining a youthful and bright appearance; however, as we all know, that isn’t always possible. Between balancing busy schedules, work and home life, some of us are lucky to get a solid six hours of sleep. If you’re a mama bear to little ones, those hours are most likely even shorter. Catching those precious zzzz’s sometimes feels like a game you just can’t win. Losing sleep not only leads to non-stop yawning, but it also shows up right under your eyes. The appearance of dark circles and puffy eyes isn’t flattering on anyone and can make you look older than you are.
Lucky for us, there are so many wonderful beauty products out there that can help you appear well-rested and refreshed, even when you find yourself running on low batteries. While concealer can work wonders, it isn’t always the best option. If used incorrectly (like applying globs and globs of it), it can have the opposite effect, making your under-eye area appear crepey and more tired. Using a concealer isn’t your only option, either. If you truly want to make your eyes look refreshed, you’re going to want to use a few products to get the job done.
Ah, grunge. It’s the style made for boots, beanies, plaid prints and I-don’t-care-hair! For the quintessential lazy girl, grunge is the greatest thing that could have happened for fashion and beauty. If this sounds like you, then you’re probably elated to have this trend back in style. We saw grunge everywhere on the runway this year and we just can’t get enough of it. Grunge not only takes very little effort to pull off, but it also lends itself to so much creativity. More importantly, if you’re not the most skilled with makeup looks that require precision, you’ll love the smudgy and edgy aspects of a grunge look.
Although there are many interpretations of grunge style and makeup, you can never go wrong with a dark eye, vampy lip and pale skin. This signature grunge look can be easily recreated with very few products and with very little effort. If you’re looking to get a little grungy this season, you’ll need three essentials to pull off this look with minimal effort. We teamed up with Beauty Store Business editor Breanna Armstrong to bring you an easy-to-create grunge look.
Those of us who love the fall season know how quickly it can seem to pass, especially with the early chatter of Christmas and winter right after Halloween. Those of us who love fall wait for it patiently every year, anticipating that slight, cool breeze that begins to indicate the end of summer. The fall season isn’t something to be rushed, but rather, cherished and savored. It’s easy to get caught up in the haste of the holidays, but we’re not quite ready to quit ordering our pumpkin spice lattes and burning our pumpkin spice candles. Nothing captures the essence of fall quite like pumpkin spice. It’s everywhere these days, from hand sanitizer to body lotions and air fresheners for your car. Between carving pumpkins and the pumpkin pie we devour on Thanksgiving, the pumpkin is the unofficial symbol of fall. In honor of the three weeks left of this wonderful season, we thought we’d do our own fun take on pumpkin spice-inspired makeup!
There are so many ways you can show your love for all things pumpkin spice through makeup! Whether you wear a pumpkin-colored lippy or go all pumpkin with your eye shadow, there are plenty of great makeup products to make you look fabulous. We teamed up with TV Personality and Style & Beauty Expert Emily Loftiss from Loftiss Says to create a fun and simple pumpkin-spice look.
As a longtime beauty junkie, I’ve always looked forward to every award show on TV. I can’t help it. I love seeing all my favorite celebrities come together for a fun night of music, TV or film. I love the special performances. If someone I like wins an award and gives an acceptance speech, I get a little emotional. It’s all so magical. I’m not going to lie though, when it comes to award shows, my favorite part has and will always be the Red Carpet.
This past Sunday, the American Music Awards took place and while I normally look forward to the edgier beauty choices that music award shows tend to offer, this year, I found some of the subtler beauty looks more appealing. Sure, edgy beauty can be fun for a weekend night, but it’s also nice to find some inspiration you can try Monday through Friday. While there were so many great beauty looks from Sunday night, three ladies balanced their beauty looks perfectly: Hailee Steinfeld, Olivia Munn and Gigi Hadid.
If you’re an avid beauty magazine reader, then you’ve most likely stumbled upon beauty trends that just don’t seem practical to wear out in the real world. (I’m looking at you, graphic eye liner.) Now, I’m not entirely knocking out-of-the-box beauty trends, but some are just better than others and look chic rather than sloppy or weird. One of those beauty trends is the glossy eyelid.
A runway-look favorite, glossy lids have been flaunted by both Beyonce and Kim Kardashian on several occasions. Glossy lids bring attention to the eyes in a way that’s different from other eye makeup looks. There’s something about a glossy lid that immediately gives off a fresh, youthful appearance. It also looks effortless in a way that can’t be compared with other eye shadow trends where a lack of blending can ruin the look or make you look like a hot mess.
Some beauty trends come and go with the changing seasons, while others become permanent fixtures in our everyday beauty catalogs. These timeless trends always come in handy when you want to look your absolute best but don’t feel like getting adventurous. As we head into the holiday season, your calendar is going to quickly fill up with holiday parties and possibly, work events. Before you pull out that red lipstick that’s been sitting in your bag since last December, consider one of our favorite classic looks for the holiday season: Sleek hair, smoky eyes and nude lips. This look will not only make you look polished, but it will spare you the discomfort of wearing that dreaded red lipstick you don’t even love.
We’ve been on Halloween makeup watch on Instagram and we are loving all the amazing looks and tutorials some of our favorite makeup artists and social media influencers are creating! While it’s hard to pick just one look we love the most, we can’t stop obsessing over Brookelle McKenzie’s gypsy makeup on Instagram: @bybrookelle.
Whenever there’s an opportunity for a smoky eye, we’re not going to pass it up. A smoky eye is typically reserved for nights and weekends but since it’s Halloween, we’re going to make the exception! Besides, this is one look you’ll want to save and recreate again just for fun. To put together our gypsy Halloween look, we used a variety of products from Stila Cosmetics, Smashbox Cosmetics, Gorgeous Cosmetics and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in True Grit
Stila Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Soul
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Glitter in Beige

With the release of Suicide Squad earlier this year, the Harley Quinn character has been front and center for Halloween costume choices! The edgy, devious character is open to many different interpretations and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put our own spin on it. Since comic book characters evolve in their appearances, there really isn’t one way to go about your look! As with our Sugar Skull Halloween look, we used everyday makeup to create our perfect Harley Quinn look. Check it out!

Sugar skull makeup is super popular for Halloween and it seems like just about every makeup artist on Instagram is creating their own spin on it. If you’re anything like me, then you’ve undoubtedly spent countless hours on YouTube watching Halloween makeup transformations, wishing you could master the same level of skill and artistry. Unless you have zero life commitments and nothing but time, practicing your Halloween makeup skills isn’t going to be on your list of major priorities. (You’re probably still trying to master that winged liner, right?)
If you really don’t want to spend money on makeup you’re only going to use for one day or stress out over recreating a look that’s way out of your comfort zone, you can still create a Halloween look that looks fantastic and requires products you may already have in your makeup bag. We teamed up with one of our talented makeup artists to bring you looks that are easy to do and won’t take hours to perfect.
