Sugar Skull Makeup You Can Recreate in 30 Minutes or Less!

Sugar skull makeup is super popular for Halloween and it seems like just about every makeup artist on Instagram is creating their own spin on it. If you’re anything like me, then you’ve undoubtedly spent countless hours on YouTube watching Halloween makeup transformations, wishing you could master the same level of skill and artistry. Unless you have zero life commitments and nothing but time, practicing your Halloween makeup skills isn’t going to be on your list of major priorities. (You’re probably still trying to master that winged liner, right?)

If you really don’t want to spend money on makeup you’re only going to use for one day or stress out over recreating a look that’s way out of your comfort zone, you can still create a Halloween look that looks fantastic and requires products you may already have in your makeup bag. We teamed up with one of our talented makeup artists to bring you looks that are easy to do and won’t take hours to perfect.

For the girl on a budget, a sugar skull look won’t break the bank. All you really need are a few makeup products from  Planet Beauty and some fake big roses or flowers. We used a total of 5 products to create our sugar skull Halloween look. We also took a more simple approach in the design, making it easy to do in under 30 minutes or less!

Products used:

Roses from Michaels Arts & Crafts Store

Smashbox Jet Set Waterproof Liner in Deep Black (used on entire eye and face)

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation

Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Girl Gang (worn on lips and around black eye circles)

Ardell Lashes in #115

One important thing to remember when it comes to tackling Halloween makeup is to have fun and BE CREATIVE! That’s what Halloween is all about! Don't feel like doing your own makeup? Contact Vanessa at our Newport Beach location and book an appointment today!

I absolutely adore this look! So many of the sugar skull makeup tutorials are so complicated, but you captured this awesome look in a simple way, yet it still totally rocks! Plus I'm a total fan of pink. Can't wait to try this out!

We agree! It's easy enough to do if you have a Halloween party to attend right after work or just want something that's cute, fun and quick!
